Netflix star confirms exit from HIT show after cast shake-up and major scandal (2024)

WEDNESDAY star Percy Hynes White has confirmed his departure from the show following accusations of sexual misconduct and racism.

Netflix recently announced that production for season two of the hit series has kicked off with the arrival of a host of new cast members.

In a recent social media post, Percy, who played Xavier Thorpe on season one of Netflix’s Wednesday series, said his goodbyes and wished his old castmates well as they ventured on the next outing.

Alongside the recently released cast and crew picture of former co-stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as executive producer Tim Burton, Hynes wrote: "I had so much fun working on this show.

"I can't wait to watch season 2 :) Much love," followed by a red heart emoji.

His comments about the show come after Jenna revealed on May 8 that production for the new season has started.

The Scream star posted a snap of her in costume and a brief clip confirming the addition of Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi and Thandiwe Newton.

She captioned the post: “We’ve begun season two.”

Last year, Percy ended up in some hot water after he was accused of sexual misconduct in January 2023 by an anonymous woman on X.

The woman alleged that the 22 year old intentionally invited drunk girls to his high school parties with the sole intention of having sex with them.

At the time, Percy was also accused of racism when a video of him using a racial slur - which has since been deleted - resurfaced online.

The actor did denied the sexual allegations the following June and claimed he'd never met the woman who made the claims.

At the time, he took to his Instagram page and wrote: "Earlier this year, somebody I've never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online.

“Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats.

"Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful.

“My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored.

“She gave me permission to include her in this message."

He added: “The rumours are false. I can't accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted or criminally negligent of people's safety.

“These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims. It's very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people."

Regarding the racism claims, the Night at the Museum star has not responded to the video as of yet.

Percy played the artistic friend (and sometimes foe) of protagonist Jenna’s titular character, Wednesday Addams.

Throughout season one, there seemed to be a possible spark between the two - or betrayal - while Wednesday tried to investigate who the ever-elusive Hyde monster was.

Xavier and Wednesday’s friendship was a rollercoaster, to say the least until the ultimate conclusion was made, where Wednesday’s other closest friends turned out to be the culprit.

On Wednesday, fans will have to wait and see how Percy’s character is removed from the next series.
