WYALUSING, Pa. (May 17, 2024) – A schedule heavy on Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying dates and a host of first-year drivers has NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series Director Jake Maynard counting down the hours to opening night.
“I’m pretty stoked about our fourth year,” Maynard said, just 26 days and approximately 20 hours before the Close Racing Supply sponsored, Insinger Performance presented tour lidlifter. “I’m looking forward to getting back to the track and a lot of clean and green racing.”
The first green flag flies Sunday, May 26 with the $1,024 to win KC Cole Memorial at Penn Can Speedway.
Following are shows June 8 at Woodhull Raceway and back-to-back outings at Selinsgrove Speedway, the $1,000 to win race on June 22 and on July 7.
Skyline Raceway is site of the $1,004 to win Billy Ward Memorial on July 13; the series is at The Hill Speedway on July 19 for the $1,069 to win Billy Maynard Memorial on July 19.
The NY-Penn Series returns to The Hill on Aug. 2, then wraps up the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Season with the $1,037 to win Sean Lias Memorial on Sept. 14 and $1,000 to win events Sept. 20 at Utica-Rome Speedway, which crowned its last IMCA weekly champion in 2007, Sept. 21 at Skyline and Sept. 28 at Woodhull.
“One of the things we really focused on in making up the schedule this year was keeping it centralized. Most of the tracks are about two hours away for most of our drivers,” Maynard explained. “We have a number of series rookies this year who are new to the division, having moved up from local 4-cylinder or street stock classes.”
Along with national, DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region and state points, NY-Penn Series veterans and rookies alike will be chasing numerous awards each night, given by Henry’s Headers and Exhaust Systems, MD3, Spalding Performance, Wehr’s Machine and Racing Products and Wilcox Performance Automatics.
Insinger Performance gives 50 cents of every gallon of race fuel and 10 cents of every gallon of methanol sold at series events to the season-ending point fund.
Alpha Chassis gives a 20 percent discount on a new chassis to the top finishing non-Alpha driver in points and MD3 gives a $250 certificate to the series champion. The driver leading the most feature laps over the course of the season gets a new drive shaft from Fast Shafts.
“A lot of drivers will be taking home contingency awards from every event and we are still talking with prospective race night sponsors and hope to make every event a Fast Shafts race,” Maynard said. “I’m not just stoked about this season, I’m already looking forward to what 2025 will bring.”

NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series returns to Penn Can for Sunday show
SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. – Round five of the NY-Penn Series takes touring IMCA Modifieds back to Penn Can Speedway this Sunday for a $1,000 to win, minimum $100 to start main event. Brad Sites brings both a two-race winning streak and the series points lead to Susquehanna for the Aug. 15 event, which makes the winner eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational during the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region and KMJ Performance State points, as well as special series points, will be awarded. Gates open at noon for series competitors. Trip east ends with Ward’s win at Sean Lias Memorial

(June 1) – After opening night of the NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series was postponed two days, a Michigan driver making the 10-hour tow won the inaugural Sean Lias Memorial at Penn Can Speedway and $1,037. A.J. Ward, a three-time champion in the Dirt Works East Region, raced his way back to the front in winning the inaugural event held in honor of the eight-time regional champion from Pennsylvania. “This is the first memorial event that I’ve won,” Ward said following his ninth checkers of the season and career 128thvictory. “It was special that this race was for Sean, with the history he had.” The win was also Ward’s career first in Pennsylvania.
