Rodríguez notches a brace, Evander and Mora score to earn three points at home

PORTLAND, Ore. – Overcoming a two-goal halftime deficit, the Portland Timbers stormed back to score four second-half goals and defeat the San Jose Earthquakes Wednesday night at Providence Park.

Jonathan Rodríguez scored a brace, Evander had a penalty kick goal and assist while Felipe Mora earned the game-winner with a penalty kick tally in the 90th minute as the Quakes finished the match with 10 men.

Comeback Results

Tonight’s comeback victory marked the Timbers’ second-ever win after trailing by a 2-0 deficit or more, and the first time since they earned a 3-2 result against Houston Dynamo FC on June 26, 2016. Portland is also the first MLS team to score four or more unanswered goals after trailing by 2-0 or more since March 31, 2018 (LA Galaxy 4, LAFC 3). It also marked the Timbers’ third comeback result of the season after overcoming a 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3 at Sporting Kansas City (April 7) and turning around a 1-0 score line to a 2-1 win at NYCFC (March 9).
