➡Welcome New Letterkenny Chamber Member - SERI (Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland)👏We recently met with CEO of SERI, John Logue - pictured with our CEO, Toni Forrester. 🙏John is CEO of Social Enterprise Republic of Ireland (SERI), a representative body for the social enterprise sector in Ireland. Prior to joining SERI, he served as CEO of Suas, an award-winning international social enterprise, as President of USI, one of Ireland's largest representative bodies, and as a Non-Executive Director of the HEA and QQI. Previously, John worked in the corporate sector, as Strategy Manager in Vodafone Ireland and as Business Manager to the CEO of Digicel Caribbean and Central America in Kingston, Jamaica.➡Social enterprises trade like any other business, but exist specifically to make the world a better place, coming in all shapes and sizes, servicing markets as diverse as the environment, food & drink, childcare, transport, education and training, work integration, tourism, health and specialist services.🙌As there is no specific legal company form for social enterprise, they are often constituted differently to reflect the structure their founders decided was the best fit to meet their mission. Some are Companies Limited by Guarantee others Limited by Shares, some have charitable status. However, what they have in common is that they meet the criteria and characteristics that make them a social enterprise.👏John has been CEO of SERI since last year, SERI was formed by some of Ireland's leading social enterprise practitioners and supporters, a champion for the sector and their members, both nationally and internationally. With nearly a decade of ecological experience, he has delivered inspirational and informative sustainability and biodiversity training programs for 15,000 learners over the past 4 years. His thorough understanding of both biodiversity and sustainability, along with his inherent leadership and interpersonal skills allows him to effectively share his insights into the issues and opportunities revolving the growing need for Ireland to become more sustainable.
