Can you guys let me know what you think of this poop? Her poop tends to be mucusy looking like this. She’s 5 months & has had poops with blood in it twice. She has very very small amount of eczema & is slow to gain weight. But she was born at 5 lbs & was 4 weeks early. The pediatrician & a lactation consultant are suggesting a cow milk protein allergy, but i’m having a hard time believing that because she’s not fussy.

Hi, I’ve had 3 babies with CMPA and they have similar diapers with mucous and blood. My first two were fussy with it but the third acts like it doesn’t bother her. Things to consider: Is this a new thing or have they always been mucousy? If new has baby been sick recently/could she have a tummy bug causing it? If you’re BFing I suggest cutting out dairy for a couple of weeks and seeing if diaper’s improve. If formula fed is really get doctors advice before switching as that can be upsetting to the gut on its own and take some adjustment. Also formulas for dairy intolerance are much more expensive.

@NSF123,
ugh :(( i’m sorry. no she hasn’t been sick. at first they were yellow & seedy, but as long as i can remember, they’ve always been this way. it’s weird to me that she’s only had blood in her poop twice ever

my daughters diapers look the same and I’ve recently been wondering the same. My husband noticed blood once but I do majority of changes and I’ve never seen any. Always runny poops though. She doesn’t seem upset at all

This is exactly like my 4 month old. Happy little guy but slow weight gain, mucus poop and starting having some blood. Dr suspects milk protein allergy so I eliminated all dairy and his poops aren’t as much mucus and less blood. I’ve been doing it for almost 2 weeks now. I go back after 4 weeks dairy free to check weight gain

Unpopular opinion here. My second and now third babies both pooped like this regularly. Never with blood spots tho. Pediatrician for my second mentioned the dairy intolerance a few times, and we did get him tested for allergies (not CMPA) and he was clear. And he was gaining weight, not in pain, otherwise happy. So I asked the gastroenterologist if it was necessary for me to cut dairy in that case, if literally the ONLY symptom was mucuousy poops, and he said no. So I didn’t. Now my third has the same poops. Again weight gain is great. His pediatrician says he is not worried at all, and if I WANT to cut dairy I can but there’s no real need. I have made the decision both times not to cut dairy just for the sake of improving the texture of my kid’s poops (both times with doctors approval of course). This is something you should obviously get checked out and talk to your dr about, but ultimately, don’t be afraid to trust your mom gut.
