Chapter Text

"...Is everyone ready?" Ayin shouted, holding a yellow colored orb in his hand.

"All set." Abram held a remote controller.

The others watched attentively, Adam held a notepad and a pen.

"Send it!" X ordered, the drone took flight under Abram's input.

Ayin did his part and began channeling Light into the orb before letting it release.

There was a sudden pulse of yellow colored Light that burst out from the orb, spreading throughout the room.

All of a sudden the drone went haywire and crashed into a wall, breaking before disintegrating into raw Light.

"The controls... They..."

...

"Well that settles things I suppose." Abel spoke.

"It's... Just like Malkuth's core meltdown." X spoke what everyone else thought.

"So then, these orbs supposedly contain those effects? If so I propose calling them Cores from here on out." Abram suggested to which everyone nodded.

"Adam, how much Light did we lose?" Ayin looked over to Adam who was staring at the tank where Light was stored.

"We lost about a third of our total, could've been worse." Adam responded as he jotted the information down.

"Great, let's move onto the next thing." Ayin moved over to the main console and typed a command.

>Welcome, Manager.

>Pick your poison.

"...Alright, I'm going to extract Punishing Bird, ready Adam?"

"All set."

"And everyone else?"

"Set!" X confirmed, the rest now holding Penitence E.G.O weapons.

"Okay..." Ayin selected Punishing Bird.

The facility shook for a bit before stopping as the screen now faded back in to the facility's cameras, centered on a brand new containment chamber for Punishing Bird next to One Sin's.

"Just like old times..." Ayin commented as the three went off to the Control Department to begin working on Punishing Bird in order to recover the Light they just spent... Speaking of that.

"Adam?"

"Looks to be about... Half of the total amount we can store, which adds up to two extractions daily if we go all in."

"That sounds about right, thank you." Ayin turned back to the footage and... Oooh, that doesn't look like it's going well for Abel-

"...I've got a question though"

Ayin turned back to his white-haired fragment.

"Why exactly are we exploring the rest of the Light right NOW? You overheard that two guards called in sick today coupled with the fact that they just took you out of your cell and back into this waiting room."

"I know I know, look," Ayin raised his arms a bit. "I know this is the opportunity of a lifetime for us to break out but think about it, once we're out there I'll have no time to focus on learning about what I can do without having to watch my back."

"I know but just... We're about to enact our escape and here you are still experimenting with the Light" Adam crossed his arms.

"Well, I suppose it's-"

An alarm would sound out suddenly, the PA system sprang to life.

"Warning! Level 1 emergency, an abnormality has breached within the Control Department, all employees be advised."

...

"Well I think I'll go assist with suppressing that, be right back." Adam waltzed out of the room to do exactly that.

Ayin meanwhile, placed the Core back into its slot and pulled the lever to secure it in its place.

Turning back to...

Wait, why the hell is he going to fight Punishing Bird? Doesn't he know that-

"--p, Hey!" Fingers snapped in his ear as he was abruptly dragged back into consciousness.

Immediately Ayin rose up nearly summoning the Light to defend himself before remembering where he was.

"Jeez, you're always dozing off whenever you can you bum." The guard told him.

Ayin rolled his eyes as he settled back down onto the seat.

"Whatever, the Detective is coming to meet you about some transfer or something." And with that, the guard turned to leave.

Unsurprisingly, the person who entered after the guard left was detective Tsukauchi who had been visited a few days ago to inform him of this transfer.

Anyhow, it's strange that he felt the need to transfer him into this room instead of having him wait in the cell but he couldn't complain much.

"So... About that transfer to a prison I told you about..."

"Hm." Ayin sat there, listening.

The detective appeared to let the phrase sink in for what he assumed to be dramatic effect, which didn't really do much.

"I lied, you're not going to a prison."

...Huh?

"I beg your pardon?"

"It sounds strange I know, but I need you to hear me out."

Ayin began listening attentively, trying to see what his intent was.

"We have reason to believe that a certain group of... 'dangerous individuals' is after you, and should they get their hands on you we fear a catastrophe awaits.

"I'm not in the mood for jokes, detective, since when was my health important for you, hm?"

"It's not primarily about your health, it's more about the fact that this group might be able to exploit your powers for their own purposes and that'd cause many problems for us."

Ayin stared with his usual blank face but shrugged in the end.

"You're getting off track anyhow, what does this have to do with me not being transferred to a prison after all?"

"That's because, you'll be relocated to a heavily guarded facility within U.A grounds by tomorrow."

"...U.A? What exactly is that?" Ayin asked half jokingly.

The detective looked confused for a moment before relenting, it seemed he had gotten used to Ayin asking these questions.

"...It's the country's most prestigious school for-"

"You're taking me to aschool, aschool."

"There's Pro Heroes working around the clock to keep that place safe, it's one of the safest places yet."

Ayin didn't even respond to that one.

"Look just, read this and sign ok?" He slipped Ayin a piece of paper-

...That's a contract?

"Legally, we can't force you to live there so you'll have to sign this... Do remember however that outside of U.A, you'll be constantly at risk of getting kidnapped at every single moment."

...

"Give me around three hours to read this, then..." Ayin leaned in and started reading.

Aizawa sighed as he parked.

Unbuckling his seatbelt, he opened the door and went outside and began walking over to the work-in-progress dorms which were only missing furniture.

Of course he wasn't here to check out the dorms, he'd already done so a few times throughout this week.

No, he was here to see how progress on the -for lack of a better term- dorm/jail hybrid that U.A staff had voted in favor of building to house a certain golden eyed anomaly.

Speaking of which, he reflected on what has happened in the recent days after that meeting.

First off, under the excuse of there being a recent villain attack and the debut of the 'League of Villains', Nedzu had delayed the Sports Festival by a whole week which gave them the time they needed to set up the dorms alongside giving class 1-A some time to rest.

Next, Nedzu managed to find a legal loophole around getting Ayin out of jail which basically boiled down to the fact that despite there being eyewitnesses to his illegal use of a quirk and resisting arrest, video evidence was still required before an actual conviction could be given and due to the villains interfering with the USJ's security systems, there was no footage of Ayin commiting any crime.

Nor was there any evidence of Ayin illegally possessing firearms because much like the rest of the gear he had in the USJ, those too had vanished into the air.

Moreover, due to the that fact he was technically a free man, U.A had no right to imprison him in any way shape or form... however, Ayin technically didn't have a residence so U.A was generously willing to 'Accomodate' him for the time being with his consent which according to what he overheard from Tsukauchi, was hesitantly given.

This however, wouldn't prevent him from simply leaving the dorm and walking around in any public space but it should do for now, nothing was stopping them from having at least one pro hero following and 'guarding' him.

Aizawa pushed his thoughts off to the side however as he had now arrived at the dorm in which they would house Ayin.

It didn't look all too fancy, it was just a basic, three room apartment.

Most of the budget they allotted for this dorm actually went to the security system comprised of a quirk-made device that could be used to detect the activation of most emitter type quirks, the apartment itself was mostly made using Cementoss and Kamui Woods' quirks before being augmented by a support hero's Fortification quirk.

To add onto that, photodetectors were littered all over the interior to specifically detect if he ever uses his light quirk which appeared to be his primary one if he does indeed have multiple quirks.

They couldn't add much else due to the fact that they were merely housing him and not actually imprisoning him in any way or shape but it'd have to do, Aizawa supposed.

All of that aside... Just how the hell is U.A going to be able to explain all of this? Especially to Class 1-A who have already seen this man getting arrested?...

Sighing as he realized he just started getting lost in his thoughts again despite having dragged himself out a few seconds ago, he shook his head.

He really hoped they weren't about to make the biggest mistake in their lives.
